This bulk Gluten Free Stew Seasoning speeds prep time by eliminating the need to measure out spices each time you make a batch.

Beef stew is a hearty dish that I make regularly in the winter months. This seasoning speeds prep time by eliminating the need to measure out spices each time you make a batch. How about checking your pantry for all the ingredients and picking up what you don’t have along with two pounds of stew meat, potatoes, celery, carrots and two cartons of Pacific Natural Foods Organic French Onion Soup (contains butter) or beef broth (for non-dairy version) so that tomorrow we can make stew!

Lexie’s Beef Stew Seasoning

Gluten-Free | Casein-Free | Citrus-Free | Corn-Free | Dairy-Free | Egg-Free | Fish-Free | Peanut-Free | Potato-Free | Shellfish-Free | Soy-Free | Tree Nut-Free | Wheat-Free | Sesame-Free | Sweetener-Free | Yeast-free | GFCF | Vegetarian | Vegan

Makes:  Approximately 1-3/4 cups seasoning (for 7-14 batches of stew)
Prep Time:  5 minutes

Ingredients:

1 cup BROWN RICE FLOUR
2 tablespoons SEA SALT
2 tablespoons granulated ONION
2 tablespoons PAPRIKA
2 tablespoons dried PARSLEY FLAKES
1 tablespoons granulated GARLIC
1 tablespoon CELERY SEED
2 teaspoons dried OREGANO
2 teaspoons BLACK PEPPER
1 teaspoon dried ROSEMARY, crushed
1 teaspoon dried DILL
1 teaspoon dried THYME

Directions:

Measure ingredients into a jar. Cover and shake until well combined.

I am so excited to find this recipe and not wonder anymore to myself " How am I going to replace that packet seasoning for my beef stew tomorrow?" I have all my spice bottles out on the kitchen table and am headed to the CO-OP for the rest. I have a good feeling this is going to be a lovely addition to our kitchen, Thanks!

Looks wonderful! How many ounces of broth in a carton?? What measurement of seasoning mix per pound of stew?? I am ready to get this in the pot!

Hi Lexie, I've newly dscovered your page and am having my husband make your beef stew recipe this weekend. I have a sensitivity to Gluten and Rice. Would almond or coconut flour work for this seasoning recipe? Thanks!

Kristina, I don't think coconut flour or almond would work here. In this recipe the rice flour is used as a thickener and has no impact on the flavor. What I would do is leave out the rice flour (but then you will have to adjust the amount of the seasoning you add to the stew accordingly b/c the bulk of the seasoning mix is rice flour) and then about 10 minutes before serving I would whisk in a slurry of 1/4-1/2 cup water and 1/2-1 tablespoon arrowroot starch or tapioca flour … if you want a thicker stew 🙂 xoLexie

Hi again Lexie, went to Whole Foods and spoke with the 'Flour Guy'… it turns out that potato flour was the perfect substitution. I didn't need to do a slurry or anything additional Just followed your initial recipe. I used Bob's Red Mill brand. Turned out really good!

Kristina … that is super!!! Always nice to have a "flour guy" to consult 🙂 I didn't think of potato flour … but you are right, that's a good choice (did you use equal measures)? Yes…Equal measures worked out just fine! The only other thing I added to the actual 'Stew' and not to the seasoning was one large yellow onion (cut into 'chunks'.) Everything else was exactly the same.
