Looking to detoxify your pits? I cannot rave enough about this homemade deodorant! This has been the only deodorant that has worked for me since giving up antiperspirants 20 years ago. I swear by it. Maybe it’s the perfect fit for my chemistry, I don’t know. It just works. It is a recipe I found over at The Angry Chicken. Here are the ingredients you will need. You can visit The Angry Chicken for the how-to’s.

Angry Chicken Deodorant

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons SHEA BUTTER
3 tablespoons BAKING SODA
2 tablespoons CORN STARCH, TAPIOCA STARCH, or ARROWROOT STARCH
2 tablespoons COCOA BUTTER (found mine at Whole Foods)
2 VITAMIN E OIL GEL CAPS (puncture and squeeze out the oil)
ESSENTIAL OILS (Choose your favorite, include tea tree or other oils known for anti-bacterial properties for added protection. I use this brand)

Tips:

For gift giving, I use little pots. Pretty up the pot by adhering a strip of decorative paper (scrapbooking paper works great).

This is hysterical. I figured you were too busy with everything else you've been doing this holiday season, so I went ahead and worked out a post. 🙂 I've been trying to find time to work on it since Friday…obviously great minds think alike. 🙂

I LOVE this stuff Lexie! Thank you so much for sharing the recipe and I love the idea to put it in a little decorative pot for gift giving.

I hear ya on the crazy…kind of glad I lost my sense of smell, so I can't smell my body oozing the stress, LOL!

xo,
Heidi

Yay! I've had a few friends try it and they say they love it, too. So your sniffer is 100% yet? How's the treatment going. We've got to get the nose back in working order. Love ya!

Haha! Lexie, you're a hoot. I love this idea since I'm stressing a bit myself over all that has to be done before the holidays. Taking very deep breaths. Merry Christmas to you!

Yeah, isn't funny, we race around and then at some point we just throw up our hands and say "whatever!"

Like:

• Santa ran out of gift wrap.
• No one is coming to our house for the holidays so why clean?!
• Christmas dinner? Chipotle will work!

You have a great one, too!!!

Just a note. I made a similar recipe (not with all the ingredients) and found I reacted to the baking soda! It worked great, but my underarms started itching terribly. Maybe if I try yours, since it's not so heavy on the soda, it might work. I reused an old deodorant stick container (not for gift giving, of course).

Thanks Amy, Good to know. I wonder how it would work without baking soda? Maybe add a bit more arrowroot powder or cornstarch. Let us know how it works.

Very nice, Lexie! I could give this only to my "crunchy granola" friends though. 😉 And, I'd love to try it for myself! I saw Elana's foot rub recipe, too. Since then I've been trying to find my shea butter … as soon as I find it I'm getting busy!

Hugs,
Shirley
