Peach & Cherry Dairy Free Yogurt Pops

Peach & Cherry Dairy Free Yogurt Pops

This week the boys and I made 4-ingredient Peach & Cherry Dairy Free Yogurt Pops and as we did I shared one of my sweetest childhood memories.

Popsicles stir up plenty of nostalgia for me.

I enjoyed many frozen pops on, and dives off of, this pier in Aina Haina, Hawaii.

My grandmother Bee always kept her Wailupe Circle freezer stocked with frozen pops grandkids. Anytime we wanted, we could grab our favorite flavor and dash out to the pier. It was pure bliss chomping and licking our pops as we dangled our feet over the edge of the bouncy diving board. The soothing trade winds and vast expanse of ocean before us were hypnotic. Those were very good days!

Such beautiful pops Lexie! I just love your pics, always. I've wanted one of these for a year or so too! If Canada only had a TJ Maxx 🙂 Also, thanks for the info on soy lecithin! Moderation, right?

What do you mean by the sugar? I did not see added sugar to the recipe, or do you mean because it is in the coconut creamer. I suppose stevia would not work? Thanks!

How does So Delicious coconut creamer differ from the so delicious coconut milk?

Chris,

Yes the coconut creamer is the source of sugar (cane) in this recipe (and of course some in the fruit). The creamer is well … creamier and sweeter than the So Delicious milk. This was designed as a convenience recipe vs. all from scratch recipe. I keep a few of those in my repertoire.

Stevia is an sweet herb, not a sugar. But I wonder if the fruit would be enough sugar? You could make these in old fashioned freezer molds that you could run under water to loosen. Then omitting sugar wouldn't be a problem … it'd just make for a harder icier pop. I just wanted to pass on what this instant pop manufacturer said about the inclusion of sugar/sweetener for easy release. : )

For those not wanting to use coconut creamer, a mixture of a natural sweetener, canned coconut milk/cream, and a good splash of vanilla would probably work fine. : ) Popsicles are pretty forgiving.

Hi Lexie,

The pops look delicious and the popsicle maker looks like it works just as well as a Zoku?

The creamer ingredient lists titanium dioxide as a natural colourant. You may want to do further research on this as it is a potential carcinogen. It is used in numerous products, including that for consumption but it shouldn't be.

Hi Peace,

Thanks so much for leaving this comment. Proof that what's on the grocery store shelf is not always made for human consumption. I will have to do more digging and pose the question of this ingredient to some of my doctor friends 🙂 In the interim I did a little checking around and found mostly commentary and research on inhaled titanium dioxide.

One site poses the question of its safety and the answer they give is: "Yes and no depending on whether it is inhaled or ingested. Titanium dioxide is a cancer causing agent as listed by the CDC but only when inhaled. The World Health Organization in their review of titanium dioxide concluded that titanium dioxide is not carcinogenic when ingested. This is similar to coal dust, flour dust etc where inhalation interferes with the uptake of oxygen into the blood stream. Titanium dioxide is completely inert when ingested and is not harmful to health.

Though I cook mostly from scratch, there are times I post "convenience" recipes like this one. I think a nut milk or coconut cream + sweetener would work pretty well in place of the So Delicious Creamer if you don't want to use it.

Yummy idea! I've only ever had popsicles (they're always dairy free) but yoghurt pops might be really yummy. I bet it's creamier, too. Thanks for sharing!
