It’s Never too Cold Outside for Ice Cream

Last weekend we went to a friend’s for dinner. My heart sank when I saw her house decked for the changing of the season with smiling jack-o-lanterns and pumpkin spice candles. I don’t know why, but this is the first year since I can remember that I am not looking forward fall.

Maybe it’s these aging bones that can’t bear the thought of temperatures in the teens. Maybe it’s the idea of trading in flip-flops for mukluks. Whatever it is, I am dragging the soles of those flip-flops as we head into fall. I just want to so skip it all.

New Dairy Free Cashew Ice Cream from So Delicious

Earlier this year I gushed about So Delicious Dairy Free’s new line of cashew ice cream. I’ve consumed more of it this summer than I care to admit. If you were to dig through our freezer, you’d find at least eight half eaten pints of So Delicious Dairy Free ice cream—no joke. What can I say, we enjoy options.

Well, to make that freezer more crammed than it already is, So Delicious Dairy Free kindly shipped us samples of three new coconut-based dairy-free ice cream flavors that we’re nutso about—Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl, Oregon Mixed Berry and Simple Strawberry.

I think they are worthy in taste and decadence to bring to your attention—just in case you’d rather be indulging in an ice cream cone instead of shoveling that first snow!

Of these new flavors, Mixed Oregon Berry is the bomb. I spent 15 years in the Northwest and fondly remember picking blackberries this time of year. Mixed Oregon Berry captures the rich, purple of blackberries beautifully and the taste is bright and berry-ful. Simply Strawberry is a close second. And if you love chocolate and peanut butter, give the Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl a whirl. It could be a little creamer, but certainly delivers on the chocolate.

Tonight I think I’ll break out the tiki torches and fire up the chimenea for a summer hot dog roast—finished off with a triple decker ice cream cone and daydreams of Thanksgiving in Belize.

Great story, Lexie! Not cashew based, but coconut milk, made with coconut cream! I see on their website in the coconut based, only the peanut/chocolate swirl; no berries yet, except in mini bars.

EQ, I had a difficult time finding the flavors on their website the first time. I think I found them by going to the coconut milk frozen desserts page and then there is a scroll button to the right that pops up more flavors. 🙂 xoLexie
